Employment in Sport in Europe

Aurélien graduated in 2003 with a Master Degree in Sport Management from the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and joined the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE) as European Policy Officer. He has now fulfilled the role of Chief Executive Officer of EOSE since 2009 with the ultimate goal to contribute to the development of the growing sport and physical activity sector becoming increasingly important to the social, health and economic future of Europe.

His main areas of interest and research are around European sport policies, sport systems and governance in Europe, European and national sport labour markets and tendencies, education and training systems and the development and coordination of large transnational initiatives across Europe and beyond.

Throughout the past 15 years, Aurélien has gained a specific expertise in the development and management of various European projects across the whole breadth of sport and physical activity with the goal to create synergies and collaboration between stakeholders, to implement innovative activities and develop new tools to tackle the identified challenges in achieving a skilled workforce of paid staff and volunteers, and to help ensure education and training are geared towards the realities of the sector.
